Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work with acrylic and mixed media. I love how quickly acrylic paint dries (I'm too impatient for oils!). I enjoy experimenting with different mediums to create texture in my paintings. I'm also a fan of oil pastels.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My starting point is always the colour palette. I try to keep it as limited as possible, but this can be tricky because I love colour! I work intuitively by gradually building up layers and then finding a composition within the painting. It is such a satisfying process that never fails to delight.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I am currently using our garage as my studio. It's nice and spacious, but it tends to get quite chilly during the Tassie winter!
