Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I use mostly acrylic because of the convenience and versatility it offers , but I love embracing other materials such as oil pastels, gouache, ink, crayons and collages when I want to be more playful and to challenge my comfort zone.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

My creative process unfolds organically, beginning without a set plan or specific direction. I start by making the first mark or brushstroke, which sparks a dialogue between my intuition and the canvas. This initial engagement leads to the next, creating a dynamic flow where each decision builds upon the previous one. As I work, I often draw upon fragmented memories from my childhood or small, everyday encounters that unexpectedly bring me joy. These inspirations emerge as delicate yet bold forms on the canvas, reflecting the irony and beauty of life's fleeting moments. My approach embraces both spontaneity and intentionality, allowing me to travel back and forth between instinct and consciousness throughout the process. I tend to work in series, with each collection tied together by a unifying narrative or theme that resonates with my current presence and engagement. My style evolves in response to the time and space I find myself in, resulting in artworks that capture both the fluidity of my experiences and the constancy of my exploration. The journey from concept to exhibition is as much about discovery as it is about creation. By the time a series is complete, it carries a cohesive story born from a process of reflection, intuition, and deliberate expression. This approach ensures that each piece not only stands alone but also contributes to the broader narrative of the series.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

My studio space is conveniently located under my living room. I am very grateful to have this space where I can freely explore and create whenever I have a chance in between other duties assigned to me as a mother and a carer. This is the only place where I can feel and hear myself without any filters.
