Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I work with oil paint, charcoal and sometimes pencil and pastels. Oil paint is amazing, it allows you to push and move it around, it blends and can be textural and sculptural. Rules? They are there to be bent and broken. Oil paint allows me to do what I feel.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

My work comes from my travels, experiences and conversations. All get translated into sketches, sometimes these sketches are combined into one piece. Other times one sketch translates straight to a finished piece. Sometimes I have plans for a piece but my mood and feelings take it a different way. My work is so connected to my wellbeing, painting is freedom and a voice.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I have a great studio space in an artist collective in West End, Brisbane. It is difficult to not be inspired by other creatives. Once I am in my studio though everything else disappears and I am lost in my work.
