Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
After years of working in art supply shops, I have tried nearly everything! My favourite is Acrylic paint, I like to water it down or use a medium so that I can build up messy layers. I also really like the immediacy, you can get multiple paintings down fast! I like to have a few projects on the go all at once, It’s a bit of a chaotic way to work but I find it makes me less likely to overthink a painting.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
The ideas for my paintings are often sparked from a trip to a vintage store or a walk in nature. I often paint designs first on paper and If I think that one is a winner I will re create it on a canvas.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work on the dining room table and often spread my chaos all through the house (think 10 vases of flowers & 50 half finished projects) It is important for me to work somewhere that has some sunshine.
