Oliver Ackland is a Sydney based artist whose moves from fragmented portraits suggestive of dreams and narrative at play to more abstract, gestural compositions, incorporating experiments with mark making using a variety of mediums.

A graduate of COFA, Ackland has been a finalist in the Fishers ghost Award 2023, National Emerging Art Prize 2024, and has exhibited with galleries such as Sketch Co Gallery, Arcadia Gallery, Ditty Wheels and taken part in the Sydney and Brisbane affordable art fairs.

Ackland is part of the 2024 St Vincent’s Art Exhibition which raises funds for victims of domestic violence.

Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I use a variety of mediums including acrylic, charcoal, pencil and spray paint. Using multiple mediums helps me achieve a controlled chaos, my own personal visual aesthetic.
