Art is deeply personal and my intention is to paint pieces that bring joy and represent beauty and wonder. I focus on colour, light, playfulness, and our common connection to place.
Joy-pop is my style. I made the name up so you're free to interpret the meaning any way you want. Influenced by Hockney, Smart, Bacon with a pinch of Ken Done Australiania, I seek to break the politics of art and bring back fun. The ocean is a muse that features in most of my work.
Artist Career Highlights
- Commissioned by the Royal Australian Navy
- Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane Art Fairs
- Pieces auctioned for various charities: breast cancer, rotary
Artist Interview
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
I am always looking for inspiration and use poetry, literature and photography for inspiration. Sometimes i will create an artwork from a photo i took 5-10 years ago.
Tell us a bit about your story and how you came to be an artist
I have been painting since I was a child. Art is in my blood and I can’t imagine not doing something creative
