Faiza
Artspace
Faiza is a self-taught artist who works mainly with acrylics and sometimes with mixed media, as she breathes life into abstract landscapes and still-life compositions. With a keen eye for detail and colour, Faiza's artwork uses both canvas and high-grade canvas paper, to translate her artistic journey.
Drawing inspiration from the world around her, Faiza's abstract landscapes invite colours and shapes that intertwine to evoke memories of her own experiences and memories of her own environment. In her still-life pieces, she plays with hues and highlights, infusing everyday objects with newfound vibrancy and colour.

Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I mainly work with Acrylics as it dries quickly and I like to work quickly with my ideas.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
For my still-life I usually draw inspiration from everyday objects around me that invoke a sense of nostalgia and sentiment. I usually pick up interesting objects at op shops that make a good piece to paint. For my landscapes they usually are driven by memories or a sense of feeling of a place. I may see a photograph or movie or even read a book that gives me an idea of a place. Sometimes its even a combination of those things.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I have a dedicated room at home that is my studio. I usually have several works in the making which keeps me from getting bored. I rotate different pieces around and work on different aspects of each piece.
