Quinter

  • Abstract
  • Acrylic Painting

Michelle Quinter is a Sydney-based abstract artist with a free-spirited, expressive approach to creating art. Her work acts as a visual diary, capturing a wide range of moods and emotions. Through large-scale pieces, she uses layers and textures to explore the balance between light and dark, creating a harmonious blend of color and form.

Michelle, having studied abroad, has exhibited her work both locally and internationally. Her artistic process is intuitive and experimental, allowing the painting to guide her in an exploration of the unmanifested, feminine expression. While her work is predominantly nonrepresentational, subtle glimpses of landscape and the moods of nature often emerge. Michelle’s art draws inspiration from classical and romantic painters, who used atmospheric washes of paint to evoke emotion and move their audience.

Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I mainly work with acrylics, but I also like to experiment with oils and mixed media.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

I see my painting as a form of meditation, where I'm free to let the artwork guide me. I work intuitively, and each stage of the process shapes the next.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I work from my studio in Sydney, filled with natural light, plants, and plenty of inspiration pinned up on the walls!
