Watercolour artist featuring contemporary landscapes, still lifes and architecture
Rochelle is a self-taught artist who began her art journey in 2013, however, her love affair with watercolour began in 2022. From 2024, Rochelle made the decision to pursue a career in fine art full-time with watercolour as her medium of choice.
Rochelle's art has her own unique style and her artworks often feature landscapes, still lifes and architecture that remind her of home.
Rochelle's inspiration and passion is to bring artworks that are meaningful to both herself and her followers. Subject matter can range from grand to the ordinary but hopefully capturing a moment.

Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
Watercolour is my medium of choice. I love its unexpected nature, translucency and softness. Each mark and stroke is unforgiving and I enjoy the challenge of trying to somewhat control it versus the unexpected outcomes it brings.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My ideas for a painting usually stem from something that represents home to me. It's often a green landscape, a place that looks like home or a homey interior. I prefer this process to be organic by sketching it out by hand and transferring it to the paper. Working on the painting can take me anywhere from a day to a few days. As each mark is unforgiving in watercolour, it is carefully chosen. When the painting is complete I have it professionally scanned for my reference and framed, so i can upload the scans to promote it on various social media and upload it for inclusion in an upcoming exhibition.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work from my home studio in Mandurah, Western Australia. I am lucky enough to have a small creative space where my whole process of painting can begin with its concept to the finish of the painting and bringing it to others.
