Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I primarily paint with acrylic, and sometimes incorporate oil stick into my artwork, particularly if I'm doing something more abstract. I'm always interested in expanding my practice, and have recently started oil painting classes with Bienarte fine art school in Brisbane.

What inspires you?

A lot of my inspiration comes from my childhood and teenage years where life was simpler and slower. Becoming a mother has been a profound catalyst in the shaping of my artistic voice also, as it's rekindled memories of places, people and items that I treasured. I've come to realise how deeply the past shapes my present viewpoints, and that I desire to share those feelings and memories through my art. My hope is that my paintings rekindle precious memories in each viewer, taking them on a journey back in time.

How would you describe your artistic style?

My style is primarily fine, detailed painting in a realistic or still life style. That is where I have felt the most comfortable and relaxed. However, I've recently started experimenting with some abstract work as a result of a hand injury. I haven't been able to paint as finely as I usually do due to movement restrictions, and I've really been enjoying doing something different!
